The First Four Weeks of Life - ENS and ESI

Golden Light Doodles: Embracing Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI)

At Golden Light Doodles, we are dedicated to the well-being and development of our beloved furry companions. We understand the critical importance of early neurological stimulation (ENS) and early scent introduction (ESI) in nurturing happy, healthy, and well-adjusted puppies. As we look back at the last four weeks, it is incredible to see how ENS and ESI have made an impact; from the puppies being okay, if not comfortable on their backs, to the litter being the most relaxed litter, we have seen an impact.

ENS and ESI are vital practices aimed at enhancing the neurological development and socialization of puppies during their early stages of life. We believe that by implementing these techniques, we can positively influence the temperament, resilience, and overall quality of life of our puppies.

Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS):

ENS involves a series of gentle exercises designed to provide mild stress to the neurological system of newborn puppies. These exercises are performed from three days old to sixteen days old when puppies are in their crucial neonatal period. The purpose of ENS is to create mild stressors, from a damp cloth on their belly, to Q-tips on their paws; these activities among others, challenge the puppies' developing neurological pathways, promoting greater adaptability and resilience later in life.

Early Scent Introduction (ESI):

ESI involves introducing puppies to a variety of scents at an early age. This practice exposes the puppies to different smells, such as herbs, spices, and other safe natural substances, which help to develop their olfactory senses and enrich their sensory experiences.

At Golden Light Doodles, we incorporate ESI into our daily routines, introducing our puppies to a wide range of scents in a controlled and safe environment. By familiarizing them with various smells during their critical developmental period, we aim to enhance their scent discrimination abilities and lay the foundation for future training and enrichment activities.

Our Commitment to Puppy Development:

At Golden Light Doodles, we view ENS and ESI as integral components of our comprehensive approach to puppy rearing. By prioritizing early neurological stimulation and scent introduction, we strive to give our puppies the best possible start in life, setting them up for success in their future roles as beloved companions and family members.

Through our dedication to early neurological stimulation and scent introduction, we aim to produce confident, well-socialized, and emotionally resilient dogs that bring joy and companionship to their forever families.
